Jeff Hopper is a life-long entrepreneur and a passionate supporter of the emerging Alberta innovation ecosystem. Before launching his real estate brokerage, Jeff worked in commercial real estate, amassing more than $300 million in real estate transactions during his 20 years in the business. A notable achievement was the successful creation and launch of the Calgary Business Centre. During his decade spent in technology management at the Royal Bank of Canada, Jeff led innovation projects to modernize the banking sector.
Elisa Park Kim (PMP) with fifteen years of experience working in health care and post-secondary sectors leading innovation based programs and projects. Elisa is an entrepreneurial thinker who builds strategic partnerships across national and international organizations. At the University of Calgary, Elisa played a lead role in starting the $100K TENET i2c competition and offered support in various aspects of concept and venture development through programming and mentorship.
Dr. Steven Jones possesses over 20 years of experience of working with medical devices in R&D providing expertise in microbiology, biomaterials, and biocompatibility testing. He has previously led successful endeavors within the contract research organization environment and at the University of Calgary as a research associate working with clinically relevant bacterial biofilms. Currently, Steve serves in SAIT's advisory board for Medical Devices Reprocessing and Laboratory Tech Programs. He possesses a BSc. (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Wolverhampton, UK and a PhD in Biological Sciences specializing in medical microbiology from the University of Exeter, UK.
While obtaining his BSc in Biochemistry Anh worked on a range of diverse research projects including cancer, COVID-19, and prion disease. As a member of the Biohubx team, Anh seamlessly integrates his laboratory experience and passion for the life sciences into our dynamic work environment. His commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and addressing health challenges is exemplified in his dedication to this industry.
Kristina Rinker (Ph.D., P.Eng.) is board member of Biohubx and CSO of Syantra Inc., a Calgary-based precision medicine company with a blood test for breast cancer detection currently in clinical studies. Kristina is a biomedical engineering innovation professional focused on technology development, translation to implementation, mentoring and training, and entrepreneurial thinking. Additionally, Kristina is a professor of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Calgary.
Bob Shepherd is a board member of Biohubx and the president and CEO of Syantra Inc. Bob has over 25 years of experience in cell bioengineering research and development. He led laboratory efforts at the University of Calgary for the early development of Syantra DX. Bob has co-founded several companies to commercialize technologies and is a co-inventor on ten international patents. He has degrees in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from North Carolina State University and has completed the NxLevel Entrepreneurship Program. Previously, Bob was a Research Associate at the University of Calgary, Colorado State University and North Carolina State University.
Peter Calverley is a Biohubx board member and decisive business executive with a strong track record of driving operational and financial performance. He is skilled in executive/leadership coaching and providing value-added Board support. His performance excellence revolves around his ability to listen, engage and influence while zeroing in on unique business strategies to identify opportunities and execute insights.
Connector and catalyst, Gibson is the co-founder of Thin Air Labs, which funds early stage, entrepreneur-led technology ventures and networks. In addition to being a co-founder of Thin Air Labs, Gibson is active in the innovation ecosystem.
